MARINE CORPS MISSION
The mission of the Elton Mackin Marine Corps League Detachment 837 is to honor and preserve the traditions of the United States Marine Corps while serving Marines, FMF Navy personnel, veterans, and their families. The detachment is dedicated to strengthening the bond of fellowship among Marines, supporting veteran causes, promoting patriotism, and giving back to the local community through service, remembrance, and Americanism.
HISTORY
The United States Marine Corps was founded on November 10, 1775, during the American Revolution, when the Continental Congress authorized the formation of Marines to serve both at sea and on shore. Since that day, the Marine Corps has built a proud legacy rooted in courage, discipline, sacrifice, and faithful service to our nation.
Guided by the motto Semper Fidelis, meaning Always Faithful, Marines continue to represent honor, commitment, and readiness to answer the call wherever they are needed.
The Elton Mackin Marine Corps League Detachment 837 proudly carries that legacy forward by preserving the traditions, values, and brotherhood of the Marine Corps. Through fellowship, service, remembrance, and support for veterans and their families, Detachment 837 helps keep the spirit of the Marine Corps alive in our local community.
