Hello 5K racers! We hope this email finds you well and healthy. Sadly, we must inform you of the difficult decision made to cancel the November 7, 2020 5K race. Due to current conditions in 44890, and under the recommendations from the Huron County Health Department, it is not feasible for Willard City Schools Honor Committee and our students to host a live race at this time. We thank you for your patience with this race and hope for your continued support in the future. All is not lost, however! We have decided to provide a virtual race opportunity for all our supporters to earn their finishing medals. Using any tracking app- Apple/Garmin/Strava/Maps etc., please complete your independent 5K race any time between now and November 7, and submit a photo of your results. All submissions can be emailed to courtneycarnahan@willardcityschools.org or texted to 419-964-6439. The deadline is 10am Saturday November 7, 2020. We will use your submitted results to award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.For those who have pre-registered, race packets and t-shirts can be picked up in the loop off of Main Street at the front of the school on Saturday November 7, at 10:00am. Racers will drive up, remain inside their car and give the name of the registered participant and a volunteer will deliver the reserved race bag and t-shirt.We thank you so much for your continued support of our student-led military recognition projects, including our 5K, our Veterans Day Program, and raising funds for Honor Flight seats for future trips to Washington, DC. Our students have not been swayed from their mission of recognition and honor for our veteran community and we are so proud of their dedication. In turn, we couldn’t do it without you.Again, we appreciate your support and we look forward to seeing you at the finish line in the spring!
